Summer in the Mojave Desert

It's not as bad as it sounds. It's noon, and it's 100 degrees. But (ha-ha) it IS a dry heat. 6 %. Palm Springs is not so lucky. Not only is it some 15- 20 degrees warmer there, because of the difference in elevation, but they have also messed up the humidity level by adding all their golf courses and other irrigation.

I was entertaining the thought of going to the dump today. That's one of the things I do when I feel the need to get out to see some people ;) Well, it just somehow didn't happen. I went to the garden instead, and talked with my vegetables. The county well guys have access through one of the ranch roads, and I heard the engines just in time to pull up my tube top from my hips, stand up and wave demurely. Yes, I was also wearing shorts. In case you wondered ;)

Hope you have a very nice summer!

Umm.. happy new year?

Nice to drop in here every six months or so.. ;) With the economy being what it is, I'm surprised that I can still afford the spoken/written word. (Yes, we are suffering.)

But I have a concern.. It's not that I really have anything to hide, but it's really starting to spook me that some (if not all - what do I know?) internet giants are tracking who we are and what we do.
Forever. ?
So if I change my religion, birthday, gender, true or false, there's a trail that's following me. I don't like it anymore, if I ever did. I mean, broadcasting my Self to boost my Self.

May I suppose that it's as easy as that we are being tracked so that we can be told what to buy? That'd be OK - I don't buy much.. don't have the urge, or the need for much.

Still, there's a nagging feeling inside of me: Somebody is watching, and taking notes.

If that's all sounding too paranoid, let's just suppose I'd make a lousy celebrity ;)

Time in Pioneertown - where did it go?

So I found a book-marked blog site, and it was MINE! I had to laugh :) And then I saw that my first and last entry was a year ago.. Glad I'm not on Twitter - I'd be invisible. Not that I am so visible here either. So what did I write last year - I can probably just copy and paste? Nobody has died, some have been born.. no humans, but my heritage turkey breeding is slowly starting up. This thrills me to no end! I'm still (again) busy weeding. It comes with the territory.

We live in a place where a lot of people are older than we are, unlike when we lived in Malibu. I'm not excessively old, but people, friends and neighbors, have started dying. It doesn't feel right at all. I don't want to be in the older generation already. It was bad enough to lose my parents just a few years ago, and I became the elder in the family. On the up-side, I have two grand-children, and on the down-side - they live in Sweden.

Suppose it does not matter much how much we talk about aging. We have no real saying in the matter anyway.

My hiking partner got lost in other activities, so I need some kind of resolve so I can stay in shape. Sure, I ride my horses and I practice yoga, but it's not enough. I have tried the "get up and walk in the morning" thing, but not only do my animals object to me disappearing for an hour, I'm just not that sort of a person. I like impulsive living. And my morning coffee!

OK, let's quit while I'm ahead, and I'll see myself next year :)

First entry.. many more to come?

I have tried blogs several times, and they end up being sort of boring. I'm one of those nature romantics who don't even own a TV to know what war is going on.. I love poetry, but mine isn't all that good. And whenever I feel the "need" to write something, I get impatient because I know I should go outside and work, or it's hot in my little office, and the flies are landing on me, or it's too cold ;) Also, how many times can people (or I, for that matter) want to read about a life that only changes slightly with the seasons? But anyway, it's a hot but beautiful day at the ranch, and I will now go outside to weed the veggie garden. And the next day. And the next ;) Now aren't you glad you got to here? OK, breaking news: I put seven most likely UN-fertile eggs in an incubator, and after three weeks one hatched. I have a black baby chick. Splendid. But I knew it :D I do have a bunch of turkeys growing, though.
